SHINE THE LIGHT
The Light House hits the streets! "Shine the Light" is a small group of people who are committed to reaching beyond our church meeting location out into the areas of Denver that needs to see that Jesus is real, still loves and cares deeply about them and has the ability to help them through life's challenges - no matter how hard they might seem.
The group demonstrates these qualities in different ways: taking food and other needed supplies to the homeless and walking up and down E. Colfax Avenue and sharing Jesus' love with those we meet. We've even gone onto Colfax with candy canes (with an inspirational message attached) to wish those around us a Merry Christmas. This group of people is still evolving and growing, but our aim is to GET OUT and bring Jesus to a world that - we believe - needs to hear and experience the power of God's love.
GLOBAL PRAYER
Each month the Light House prayerfully chooses a country that we feel a spiritual burden for. We then make it our goal over the next 4 weeks to focus in prayer for specific needs of that country. We finish the session with a special informational video detailing specifics about that country and invite anyone we know from that country to attend this service. We will then pray for those people who represent the country that has been chosen.
What's our goal?
It's twofold. We use it as a tool to bridge gaps between the Light House people and those representing the countries that we pray for. We want to use it as an instrument to share Jesus' love with those who need to hear it.
Our other goal is to help us to focus on people that we will more than likely never meet or areas that we may never travel to, to help us see the challenges that others are facing outside of our local sphere in Colorado. We've discovered that God honors a heart that is willing to temporarily set aside its own immediate challenges and difficulties and help to shoulder the burdens of a country/people that are, sometimes, facing challenges that many of us (in the United States) may not experience. We know that God honors the heart that sacrifices in prayer for the benefit of others. We want those people and those countries to be changed through prayer and want to deepen our journey with God through the practice of intercessory prayer.
